Developed a custom, indication-specific Patient Journal & Symptom Diary element of the Trial Companion Kit, significantly improving the accuracy of Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs).
A CNS disorder trial relied heavily on accurate PRO data capture, but the generic, text-based paper diaries resulted in inconsistent entries, missing data, and low compliance. There was a critical need for a user-friendly design to ensure data quality.

Project approach
We approached this as a UX problem, focusing on Empathy Mapping to understand the patient experience of tracking symptoms. We then created a custom, physical Patient Journal & Symptom Diary with easy-to-use pages, icon-driven pain scales, and simplified daily prompts. This design simplified data capture at visits and improved the accuracy of the PROs.
